Comparison: woven wrap and  Love Radius stretchy wrap

To carry your baby, there are two types of wraps: woven wraps or stretchy knitted wraps, also called stretch wraps.

It is important to know that these two types of wraps allow a physiological wearing for your baby. But what are their differences? We enlight you.

Knitted babywraps called stretchy wraps

They can be 100% cotton and be stretchy on the width only or be made of a mix of cotton with elastane and be stretchy in every direction.

At Love Radius we have chosen to offer stretchy baby wraps that are stretchy in all directions! They will stand out because they're very enveloping thanks to several layers of fabric for the baby. It will offer better support, a real cocoon very appreciated by newborns.

Indeed, we have developed a knitting technique exclusive to Love Radius found nowhere else (even copies!). Composed of 95% cotton and 5% elastane, our fabrics are without harmful substances for your child.

They can be used from birth to 14 kg (9 kg for the Basic wrap).

Woven baby wraps

Woven wraps are less flexible and stretchy than knitted wraps. They are supposed to be less deformed over time than knitted wraps and to be more evolutive. (With the high quality of the fabrics chosen, our knitted wraps are just as evolving!)

There are many types of weaving: twill, broken twill, twill weave, jacquard...which all have their specificities!

You can use them from birth to 15 kg of the baby.

Woven or knitted wrap: the differences

The knots

Indeed, for these two types of wraps, the knots are not the same!

Love Radius knitted slings

With Love Radius baby wraps, you can take baby out and put him back in while keeping the knot. Several types of knots: main knot, sliding knot, double hammock knot ... (click on the different knots for more info, or all the babywearing tutorials)

There is no need to "plan" space for the baby when we make the knot, because the fabric is stretchy enough to accommodate him without making him balloon or tackle him.
Baby is put in the knot once it is already made (thanks to the main knot), no need to make the knot and put the baby in it at the same time (Belly to Belly, Profile Sitting, Hip, Back carry). With newborns, it is very appreciable.
You can spread the sling on the hips, the buttocks. It does not tighten the belly. You can lean forward with low waist jeans and keep your intimacy to yourself ;-)
The head of the baby can be covered without being plated, even if the carrier moves.
The baby is held on all sides, he can move his limbs, push with his feet, his hands and "live" as in the womb. The fabric is firm and dense at the same time and reminds the uterine wall.

Woven wraps

Woven wraps allow the realization of all types of knots: hammock, double hammock, kangaroo, cross carry...

Less stretchy than knitted wraps, it can be less easy to make the knots in advance and place the baby afterwards. The adjustment to put in place and all the different types of knots can be a little longer to get the hang of!

So, woven or stretchy wrap?

To carry your child, both are very good products adapted to physiological baby wearing. To us, the knitted wrap / stretchy wrap seems easier to handle for young parents who can prepare their knot in advance and reassure themselves.

And if you are afraid of knots, there is even our ring sling the Little Wrap Without A Knot which will have all the advantages of a sling, without the need to tie it.
